well Dear wife i am well and so is Philander and Leoyes folks ware all well when we last herd from them i hope these few lines will find you all well yes dear children /
March 2..69 morning three oclock
Well dear family i got my dinner in town yesterday i made 3 dollars yesterday i must make more today well i suppose that Old pap Chapman said that if Phil and me come to Ohio he would get his friends to tar and feather me
i want to see you verry much and i will see you before long and know what my doom is well i have herd some things lately since i wrote the last letter well i do not know what to think about coming to Ohio atall since i herd what i did and it come strate well i think maby i had better go and then i can know for my self all about it i will by another home and fix it up and then if you will come and live on it with me pleasently the remaining years of mortal life well and good and not i will go to the far west and get some land
i wish to ask the old gentleman what for he came from Iowa on friendly visit but in the place of making union he played the old harry parted you and me and then tryed to part levi and Sary and i have lernd all about it JGS
tis hard to live this way well i cant but try to live right and it is a glorous thing to dy and sore to the sky to that land of rest whare pleasures never dye. this is the first morning of spring yes and the birds are sweetly singing while grief my hart is wringing and the sounds of nature are bringing hapiness to others while i must be in trouble and sorrow well its all my own falt (yes yes yes) i know how i have spent this much of my life and i know to that i marryed a loving woman one that was worthy of a better companion but the lord knows that i still love and respect you yes. well pleas write soon and tell me if it is so that you promiced pap Chapman that you would not live with me another day
