i am not well i had a chill i am takeing medison the regimental docttor Jones i will not have one to day
 
the reson of my being up so early this morning is i am giveing medison to C. A. Ford a loved brother soldier
 
Laura Bill Payne has got his health again so has Mose Johnson and big A little a ron. well laff and gro fat / Soldiers are chearfful and lively. Who has a better rite to be…none on the face of this green earth no thats so for they shurely aut to injoy sweet moments in their last lingering days of earthly injoyments. i thank god for the happy privlege of being some what gay and lively
 
wall Ruth i think i will be hom in the spring yes in the spring time when all things look plesent and the flours are fresh and the innocent birds fill the fresh air with their little sweet notes of prais (the birds prais god more than the magority of man) i think thats

wall it is 5 oclock my tea is warm in my little tin bucket the tea i buy unkel Sam furnishes the rest i have drank my tea i feel better it is 6 oclock the bugle will soon blow for that old roll call the war news are favorable old prices son 21 yrs of age a Brigadier generall and some other prisioners past heare in the cars yesterday on therr on their way to St Louis the gun boat are playing hal with the attact follow the infantry flashed it to them like hail /
 
well i will write a little more now it is just before dinner 11 oclock i feel like eating some rice some bread some coffy and a little meat i think that i will be able for duty to-morrow morning, Syracuse Mo feb 23
