Katherine S. Covert was born on May 26, 1875, in New Jersey to Henry and Lucinda Covert. Her father was a shoemaker who owned $2,950 of real estate and $500 of personal property by 1870. She grew up and attended school in Montgomery, New Jersey, and by 1900, she was living in her sister Mary’s household in East Windsor, New Jersey. She married Walter Potter, and their son Roland was born around 1911. They lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and her husband worked as a meat cutter. She died of acute pulmonary edema in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on February 25, 1958.
