         My Dear and absent but not
forgotten Child  it is with pleasure
that I attempt to write a few lines to
you.  We received yours of the 30 and glad
were we to hear once more that you was
well  the folks are all well but me
I have not seen a well day since the
3d of Sept. but have tried to work
most of the time.   last week Kate was
hear to help me  this week
Morse is hear   yesterday and to day
I feel better than I have for tow weeks
but do not worry about me my Dear
Charles.  I would not write but that
I was well if I thought you would.
your Father is to work to day for Ian Pike.
He is to work for Del.  George went
to Barnet yesterday to carry some
cloth to be dressed.  Mr Spaldings
Boys have got the measles
most likely George will get them
George wrote to you last Saturday
     I sent a paper last Tuesday.  Have
you got the box we sent and how
do you fair Charles.  I have to know.
Annet and I talk a good deal
about you poor soldier Boys
      October the 11.   When Hi com
home last night he fetch your
precious letter of the 9 and oh what
a blessed privilege that we can
converse with the pen   George carried
the note down when he went    Miles
had not got the money but said he
would get it in a tow weeks    rather
hard times hear for money.  Hi says
tell Chas I went to his kin last night
as to Geo Parker had been and
punkin pie   guess John Parker
had no pig their.  we have got our corn
all husked and there is a good deal more than
their was last year and a goodeal better
our potatoes are as good as they were
last time and about the same
number of bushels .  we have not
had frost enough to kill the cucumber
vines   it rained on Tuesday all day and
cleared off warm and pleasant
still fogy in the mornings.  I hope
the box has gone safe to you.
Why did John Morse go in Co?
well my Charles I will write more
when I get a new pen.
