Concord December 9th
Dear and Loved Child It is with pleasure that
I take my pen to let you know that we are
all well and I hope these few lines will find
you enjoying the same blessing. I wrote to you the
29th of Nov and told you that when the gloves were sent
I should write again. well your Father carried the gloves
up Monday. they would go to West Concord that night
and if they go right along you will get them
before you do this. I rolled them up in a paper and
sealed it up. But was agoing to do them
over. you lnow.I am not very tasty on knitting
gloves but they will be warm for you to weare in a
cold Days. I was a good while about them for I have
had to fix a good many poultices , George has had an
abcess on his lip and five or six biles and Hi has had two on
his back and one was like the one you had on your back
he did not go outdoors for three Days. well today he has
been over to Uncle Jacobs and got a sleigh they
have. bought one of him it is his yellow sleigh
they gave five dollars for it. Geo is going to
Bethlehem to morrow to get our cloth and is going
Stop to Waterford to get a new Harness.
So you see they will get right out after a while
Just come home Charlie and take the first ride
with Geo and Hi. I wish you could. but as you
can not I will try to write with patience but
the time seemes long for you poor boys to have to
fare so hard and have to live on such dry lunch.
how did your cokes taste that we sent in Hose box
they are getting up a box hear. we shall send
you a stuffed goos and som other things they tell of
sending it next week. Geo received a letter from you
tuesday and Hi had a paper from you and a fiig of
tobacco he is like the dog in the manger he cannot bite
it himself nor let anyone else. Hi sent a paper
to you monday. I have had a slay ride to
day on the ox sled over to Mr Parkers the first
time I have been their sence last haying they are all
they were picking geese Geo says he will
write in a day or two How do your feetings last
and how do you get your washing done
do you keep warm these cold nights. I am
afraid you will freeze your feet this winter
I hope this war will soon end you must be
good try to shun all evil. I know you are
surrounded by all kinds of disposions and dangers
and hardships are the rebels drawing
