Dear Mother
I now improve this oportunity of writing to you I have been very busy for three days & nights & am now writing under the fire of the enemy which is a continuous rore of artilary & musketry.  I am well Frank was not able to follow us from our last camp & he has been sent to Washington I shall hear from him soon & will let you know what hospital he is at he has a fever which the Doctor says will take him a week or two before he will be able to do duty again.  we felt quite smart yesterday morning when I left him.  I have been here this is the third day where we have had an artilary duel every day which makes them look in every direction as soon as our men get range I have but little time to write & I must now close I will write again as soon as I can.  My love to all & I Remain Your Affectonate Son
