Dear Folks:
A quarter past ten o'clock finds me in No 145 once more. I had a successful voyage, making the trip in a trifle over three hours. Mr. Wait and several other Norwich men accompanied me. I feel the change (no momentary feeling I assure you) which has come over me in the matter of companions. I have a host of good friends here, but they are / not "folks", and cannot take their place. It will be needless for me to say that my visit was a pleasant one. You who have contributed (!) to make it so, may rest assured that your kindness is appreciated. I shall turn to my books again with additional zest—having seen the home & friends of my childhood, my new sisters & my sweet nephew & niece. This letter (if the miserable administration Post Masters do their duty) will reach home before the wanderers leave. Let me bid them another Good Bye & Pleasant Journey. Boys: If you visit the Librarium Tuesday night, think kindly of the member from / N.H. I of course left something. This time it was a book belonging to Limonia Library entitled "Pic-wic Papers"—and an account of the Harper's Ferry row. If Father will please forward as soon as possible either by express or by some Shad-eater, I shall be much obliged. With a great deal of love to you all I am sorrowfully & affectionately
                                                            Chas
