Charles J. Arms to Hiram P. Arms, 12 June 1860
New Haven June 12th 1860.

Dear Father—
Your much wished-for letter came this morn. I hoped you would not forget that I was in great suspense about Lucy's condition, and thank you that you did not. Mr. Gulliver was in town last night and called in to ask me if I knew of her sickness. It was very kind. I wrote you friday night, and Sallie answered the letter this morning. She says she expected a telegram from you, but you haven't sent one. I suppose you wrote. God keep our dear Lucy. Her death would be a terrible blow to us all. Whatever is the result, whether she is permitted to rise from her sick-bed and be once more an affectionate wife, daughter & sister—or is taken away from us, so suddenly and so sadly, I believe that she is an earnest true Christian. I enclose my photograph which she wanted. Please show it to / her & give her my warmest love. I prize her letter very much. I cannot write more—I am quite well now. With much love to Mother, Mr. Berry and yourself, and an earnest desire & prayer for Lucy's recovery

 I remain your aff. son
Charles J. Arms

Please write often
