Dear Father—
Not having heard anything from you, I suppose Sallie is no worse. We are all very anxious to hear how she is. I couldn't come up last night, and do not see how I can to-night.

As I have to be in Hartford on Saturday, I think I shall go from here to H. and thence home. If Sallie is worse, you can telegraph to me / at the Allegra House in Hartford. General Palmer has telegraphed that he will be here tomorrow and I must see him. He has been breveted Maj General.

All are well here, and send a great deal of love to you & family. Mary thinks she shall go up to Miss Pierce's the last of this week or first of next. I shall be here till Saturday morning—then to Hartford

Affectionately
Charlie.
