Dear Father—
Yours is at hand. I am finally settled, very pleasantly and advantageously in the law office of A. Lawrence Jr. who is a very nice gentleman. I am simply a student. He says I can be admitted in May. I am "putting in" at study and hope to get back part of the time I lost in the army. When I see my old classmates practicing law, and supporting themselves on it, I almost regret that I went into the army. Sarah is / well, and enjoying herself. She does not say when she is going home. A letter from Frank says he thinks of coming down soon. It is very cold to-day—very appropriate for the time of year.

Nothing of importance has transpired since I wrote, except the fact recorded on my first page. My life is quite a monotonous one now. I hope you will add variety to it by frequent letters. Give much love to Mother, and believe me

Truly y'r aff son
Charlie.
