My dear Madam
your Husband is lying in this Hospital with his right leg amputated it was taken of on the Battle field but was done in such a way that the Surgeon has thought it best to perform another aprop operation which was done to day he is getting along nicely has good care and we hope he will get well all tho it is impossable for any of us to tell at present how the case will terminate. to night he is very low but I trust he will be better in the morning he sends love to you & says do not wory about him he / bears his suffrings nobly
if you want to write to him enclose a letter to him in an envelope directed to me & he will be sure to get it.
if you want to send him any money to buy any little comforts he may need I will see that he has it. I will write to you how he gets along &c as often as possible.
please write to direct your letters to me yours respectfully
