Dear wife it is with pleasher that I seat myself to write you a few lines to let you no that I am well & hoping these lines may come safe to hand and find you in good helth I have nothing to write to you but I herd their was a nother fine boy at your house I whish I could come and see him but I cannot at this time but I hope it will not alwayes be the case I will send you fifty dollars and I want you to tak it and pay Mr Mr Banks for that colt and use the rest as you need it and keep some by you I have got a nuff to do mee and I want you to get som good strong leather and have mee a good strong pair of shooes made nomber 10 brand bottums and hy qartered have them put up strong hy qartered brand bottums and send them by Capt Ragsdale
 
Eligah Crump and Mem an Dock is well Mem has ben sick but he is well but not stout Calvin is well and sends his best respecks to you and the children
 
Artamisa I want you to send me two shirts one a wooling shirt and one pair of drawers and two pair of socks and my over coat send them by Capt Ragsdale I wrote you a letter and told you what I wanted if you got it so I must close for this excuse my short letter and bad writing so no more at presant but remaines your efectionate
