Dear Mama
I thought I would write you a few lines, as the afternoon is long, and the weather wet and dreary. I have been reading, and I got so sleepy that I laid down a little while after dinner and now I feel quiet rested, and thought of you all at home. I have been working every day this week at the same place I told you, and I am going there tomorrow and next day, and have not any engagement any where else as yet. I will write and tell you when I want to come home again. I would like to stay here / a week or two longer, and earn a little more money. I am going to buy 10 yard's of muslin, and some embroidery, so while I am at home I can make myself a night dress and some corset cover's, and other little thing's that I want. I often think there is something you want all the time, things wear out. I want to get you some lace to trim your dress, it will make a finish to it. how did papa get home all right? Oh I forgot to send you back a pair of old shoes I have here, I told you about but I forgot it, but I guess I can get along untill next time we are all well here and I hope you are all the same. I have just written another letter to Lillie Furman so thought you would be look- / ing for a letter from me to morrow. Emma tell's me she was sick while she was down to Aunt Mat's. she made her a shallie dress, to in the mean time. she came home Tuesday afternoon on the cars. she hasent been out working any where this week, so she hasent no money as yet—and hasent paid me—I expect she will as soon as she get's the money. she has been making a dress for the ladie she lives with, for to pay the board. oh I guess i did tell you; she wont get away now untill the second week in August it put her back in going a way, and having to make that dress for Miss Hutchinson that is Mrs Clayton sister where she board's /

Oh Mama I went to the Circus with Clarkson & Janie, Wednesday night. it was very good, the best that has been here this summer—and there was a large crowd of people there. when I come home I will tell you what all I saw. I wish Papa & the young one's could have seen this one instead the one they did see. Oh Mama isent it to bad—Aunt Ellen is dead Grand Pa's sister, the funeral was yesterday morning at half past ten, did you get any invitation? Janie got one but could not go, her mother Mrs Applegate went away yesterday to millstone, and she could not go—.
