   I now take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well at present I am going to joying General Butlers expedition to go to Ship Island we are going on the boat called the Constitution we are going to start to morow morning at 7 Oclock Anson and Henry is well at present and a going with us this is all from L B to P E B

            Dear Cousin I take / my pen in hand to let you know that I am well and hope these few lines will find you the same we are in vergina and we are going to leave here to morrow morning at 7 Oclock tell L A Green that I thank her for writing to me the last time since she got her name changed this is all Direct your letters to Lafayette Brant
