Warren M. Brant was born on March 9, 1843, in Pipestone, Michigan, to Nathaniel and Martha Brant. His father was a farmer who owned $3,000 of real estate and $880 of personal property by 1860. He grew up and attended school in Bainbridge, Michigan, and by 1860, he was working as a farmer. He married Edna H. Vanhoesen on December 3, 1864, and they had at least two children: Minnie, born around 1866; and Clarence, born around 1868. They lived in Bainbridge, and by 1870, he owned $2,000 of real estate and $350 of personal property. His wife divorced him in June 1887 “on account of cruelty,” and he married Mary J. Ashbaugh on June 30, 1888. He divorced her in October 1896 on the grounds of “desertion.” He married Electa Williams on November 7, 1896. By 1900, he was working as a hostler and living in his stepson’s household in South Bend, Indiana. His wife died in the early 1900s, and by 1910, he was living in Buchanan, Michigan. He died in Berrien Springs, Michigan, on October 15, 1914.
