Camp Griffen Nove 24th 1861
Dear father and Mother i recieved your letter to night and was very glad to hear from you and to hear that you was well and hope thes few lines will find you the same now to for iam well to and shall bea to By gory it maid me laugh to think how you thought that i was homsick when i engoy my self so well before in my life it jest seuts me hear Mother that is so taint no lie shure as the devel i dont want eney money atall for money cant get me of hear nor i dont want it should neather dont mind about drawding my monie for iwill sent you an order so you can draw 21 dolars the 16 of next month and if you want to use eney of it bfore jest / get it if you wanto We haint ben paid of yet When we get it will be 19.50 dolars an fifty cents we dont get onley one month and a half pay it will bea the gold to i may send some home and i may not jest as i feel when i get it tis cold hear now and it haled hear alittle to day Dont sell my colt mind that Tell Edwin and Nancy that i am glad to hear that they have maid up ther mindes to stay there and worke with father this winter and be contented there father jest mind when you get that money jest buy the boyes some close be shure to do so and your self to if you wanto and mother to Tell the boys to take care of my colt this winter and i will pay / Turn this [?] to and it will be right as shure as hell mother on Dress Peraid to night that Thanksgiving is to be the 28 of this month Mother jest have a good time then get harvey Johnson and Abbie to be shure now down to eat the supper for me Mother be shure now i say dance singe and be mery and think of me but dont feel bad Be shure now i say so mind it you no that i am boss doint you Another one of our boys are ded poor boy aint that to bad Mother Tell Charles McKinney to right to me tell John Capen to do jest as he dam pleases for i shall
