Annie E. Few

Annie E. Few (maiden name: Callaghan) was born in 1832 in Warm Springs, Virginia, to John Callaghan and his wife. She first met Samuel F. Few while he was boarding at her father's hotel in Covington, Virginia. The fifteen-year-old Annie married her twenty-seven-year-old husband on March 8, 1848, in Covington. Together they had five daughters: Annie, born in 1854; Betsey, born in 1857; Mary, born in 1859; Ella, born in 1862; and Ada, born in 1865; and one son, O'Callaghan, born in 1850, who died in childhood.

The family moved to Kansas, where according to the Kansas State Census for 1865, her holdings totaled $8,000 in real estate and $500 in personal estate. She did not receive a pension following her husband’s death on December 3, 1892. Few lived with her daughter, Betsey, and her husband, Benjamin H. Morgan, from at least 1900 presumably until she died on May 20, 1903, in Leavenworth, Kansas. She is buried in Lansing, Kansas, at the Mount Muncie Cemetery alongside her husband.
