Victoria P. Hammond

Victoria P. Hammond (maiden name: de Pedrorena) was born on July 29, 1842 in El Cajon, San Diego, California (Mexico at the time), to Miguel de Pedrorena and his wife. Her father, a prominent “Californio,” had supported the United States during the war with Mexico. She married John Fox Hammond at the age of 13 in 1856 in San Diego, California. A week later, after the marriage was annulled without consummation, she was taken back to Mexico. Hammond's pension record, however, describes a divorce in 1858. She later married Henry Cave Magee and had several children, before dying on August 6, 1886, in San Francisco.
