In 1860, she lived with her mother and other family members in New Orleans, Louisiana. James Hancock married Mary around 1868, and their son James R. was born on October 26, 1868. The couple lived in Austin, Texas. She died in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 15, 1872. Mary is buried at the Church Street Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama.
