Susan Savage Wilson Hodge

Susan Savage Wilson Hodge (maiden name: Wilson) was born in Virginia on August 15, 1838. Her family were deeply religious Presbyterians who were instrumental in the establishment of the Presbyterian Church in what would eventually become the United States. She married John Ledyard Hodge in DC on June 9, 1862, and they had four children together: Sally, born in 1864; Henry, born in 1865; William, born in 1869; and Ellen, born in 1872. Following her husband’s death on August 26, 1902, in Philadelphia, Wilson did not receive a pension. She died on September 16, 1911, in York, Maine, and is buried next to her husband in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia.
