Mary Hunter

Mary Hunter (maiden name: Mary C. Duncan) was born around 1841 in Ohio to Reverend Daniel Duncan and his wife, Mary Munro Converse. She married John A. Hunter on December 3, 1861, in Muskingum. Together they had one daughter: Ellen "Nellie" Duncan Hunter, born in November of 1863 in Ohio. She was a deeply religious person throughout her life. According to the priest who spoke at her funeral, her death "has deprived the little church of a most zealous and useful member and society of one of its most brilliant ornaments." Mary died on March 10, 1868, in Lancaster, Ohio, and is buried in the Putnam Cemetery with her parents and her mother's extended family.
