Isabel Mater

Isabel Mater (maiden name: Webster) was born on September 18, 1858, in Bridgeton, Parke County, Indiana, to Walter Samuel and Belvina Mitchell Webster. She married widower Jacob D. Mater on November 19, 1876, in Bridgeton. Together they had a son, Bruce, who died when he was only ten months old. As her husband travelled around the region offering medical lectures, Mater accompanied him. Following her husband’s death from myocarditis on April 14, 1914, in Bridgeton, she began receiving a pension. Mater died at her home in Bridgeton on September 2, 1917. She is buried in Bridgeton alongside her husband.
