Margaret Ann Rucker (maiden name: Scott) was born on January 29, 1832, in Lynchburg, Virginia. She married William Parks Rucker on October 28, 1852, in Campbell County, Virginia. They had five children: Hedley, born in 1853; William, born in 1855; James, born in 1856; Mary, born in 1858; and Edgar, born in 1861. Following the war, the family lived in West Virginia. After her husband died on January 3, 1905, in Lewisburg, Rucker lived with their son, James, and his family in Lewisburg and began receiving a pension that increased to $25 a month by 1906 due to a special act of Congress. She received a pension until her death on May 2, 1914, in Lewisburg, West Virginia, where she is buried with her husband.
