Julia H. Thornley

Julia H. Thornley (maiden name: Payne) was born to Josiah S. and Isabella J. Payne of Charleston, South Carolina, around the year 1838. She married Dr. John Thornley as his second wife sometime during the 1860s. The couple had four children: Josiah Payne, born around 1867; Julian, born around 1869; Jane R., born on September 2, 1870; and John, born around 1877. The family moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, after the war. On January 23, 1885, Julia died of an unknown illness in Charlottesville.
