Gertrude Laura Wilson

Gertrude Laura Wilson (maiden name: Houston) was born on February 21, 1843, in Washington, D.C., to John Hopkins and Gertrude Parker Truxton Houston. She married Charles Irving Wilson in the federal capitol on January 18, 1886. Together they had two children: Charles Stevenson Houston, born in 1866; and Gertrude Truxton, born in 1880. She lived with her family in New York; Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; and St. Louis, Missouri, as the war department moved her husband around frequently during his career. She did not receive a pension following her husband's death on September 22, 1913. Houston died on January 1, 1923, in New York City. The two are are buried together in Arlington National Cemetery.
