Grace L. Woodson (maiden name: Lee) was born around 1852 in Port Jervis, New York, to Philip and Nancy Cunion Lee. She married Richard Goodridge Woodson on July 5, 1868, in Wentzville, Missouri. They had at least eight children: Gertrude, born around 1869; Alice, born around 1870; Charles, born around 1872; Tarlton, born in February of 1874; Nanny, born in October of 1876; Grace, born May of 1881; Freda, born in January of 1884; and George, born in August of 1889. While the 1900 census and her obituary later that they had a ninth child, his or her name and birthdate is unknown. Following her husband’s death on March 8, 1911, she applied for a pension, but received a denial due to Richard's dishonorable discharge from the army. She died on February 22, 1936, and is buried in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri.
