Mary Kennedy

Mary Kennedy (maiden name: Selden) was born to John and Anne Rebecca (Kennedy) Selden on October 3, 1847 in Jefferson County, Virginia. She married her cousin Dr. Stephen Dandridge Kennedy as his second wife on June 22, 1869. The couple had four children: Anthony K., born April 22, 1873; Mary Willoughby, born February 28, 1875; Margaret Hughes, born July 17, 1877; and Agnes Grey, born December 4, 1881. The family lived in Annapolis, Maryland, after Dr. Kennedy left the Navy in 1882. They moved to Warrenton, Virginia, in 1887.

Mary Kennedy authored the book Seldens of Virginia and Allied Families, which was published by the Frank Allaben Genealogical Company in 1911. She died in Washington, D.C., on January 23, 1928, and is buried alongside her husband in the Warrenton Cemetery in Warrenton, Virginia.
