Catherine Maury

Catherine Maury (maiden name: Catherine Margaret Preston Ingersoll) was born in Philadelphia on April 5, 1844, to Charles Ingersoll and Susan Brown. Her father was a prominent attorney, and her paternal grandfather was a Democratic congressman from Pennsylvania. She was baptized at St. James Episcopal Church in March 1860, at the age of fifteen. Eight years later, on March 17, 1868, she married Francis Fontaine Maury in the same church. They had two children together: Charles Ingersoll Maury (born January 13, 1869) and Francis Fontaine Maury (born August 25, 1870). Catherine fell ill of an unknown disease in the spring of 1879, and she passed away on April 1.
