Death of Samuel Hepburn, Esq.

Samuel Hepburn, Jr., Esq., of Carlisle, died Friday, on board a steamer, en route to Jacksonville, Florida, from apoplexy. Mr. Hepburn had been in poor health for some time and on Monday previous had started for Florida. The deceased was a son of ex-Judge Hepburn and was aged fifty years. He attended Dickinson College, the University of Virginia and the University at Berlin. He was admitted to the Carlisle bar in 1863, and had a lucrative practice for years past. He was a fine pleaded and in points of legal ability he stood at the front of the bar of this County. Mr. Hepburn was married twice, his first wife being Miss Minnie Moore, daughter of Johnson Moore, Esq., and the second Miss Maria Japy, who survives him, and seven children.

His funeral took place Tuesday afternoon, and was largely attended.
