Jane Isabel Sterrett

Jane Isabel Sterrett (maiden name: Patterson) was born in Pennsylvania on May 24, 1826, to William Hart Patterson and Mary Ann Wilson. Her father was a merchant who owned at least $35,000 in property. Her brother, John James Patterson, fought in the Union army before moving to South Carolina and becoming a Republican senator.  

Jane married James Patterson Sterrett in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, on May 29, 1850. They had four children together: Laura M., born around 1852; William Patterson, born on July 14, 1853; Annie B., born on November 25, 1855; and Emma, born on August 4, 1858. Jane died of unknown causes on September 27, 1860, in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania.
