Mrs. W. W. Edwards Dies at Age of 97
Mrs. Elizabeth S. Edwards, 97, “grand old lady” of St. Charles and widow of Circuit Judge William W. Edwards, died Friday night at her home, 302 Madison street, St. Charles, where she lived with her stepson, Claude E. Edwards, and stepdaughter, Miss Margaret Edwards.
An attack of bronchitis and influenza had confined her to her home since she celebrated her 97th birthday on January 9. The illness also stopped her quilt making. One of her last quilts, a double wedding ring pattern, was sold for $100 last November with the proceeds going to war refugee aid.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by two sons, Col. William W. Edwards, Coscob, Conn., and Julius Edwards, Hollywood, Cal., and her two stepchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30p.m. tomorrow at the Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Charles, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
