Miss Rose A. Loughran
Madame
I am in receipt of your note of the 12th inst inquiring after your brother. I cannot tell you where he is now the last that I heard of him was his arrival in Philadelphia, and ere this must have arrived at New York. If so I presume you have you have seen him. His wound was not considered dangerous. the ball entered his cheek and I understand came out at the mouth as it was not found when he was examined by the surgeon.

Your brother was wounded while doing his duty like a good and true soldier and I hope he will soon be able to take / his place at the head of the Company and face the enemy again if necessary.

I would be pleased to hear of or from your brother, believe me
I am
yours very Respectfully
Wm Reid
