Miss Rose A. Loughran
Dear Madame.
I received your note of the 7th inst. I would have replied sooner but after our late severe labours I have been prostrated with severe sickness and am now slowly recovering. I am in hopes that you have found or heard of the whereabouts of your brother ere this reaches you. I inquired of our Surgeon if he could let me have any information about your brother, but he could give me none. You see that after the sick and wounded are taken away we know nothing more of them until they are able to join their Regt or in case of death we should be notified by the surgeon in charge of the hospital where said person was.

You inquire if our Regt has been paid off yet. We are just  in receipt of pay for March & April if your brother can be found he will have to get his Descriptive List and he can get paid on it. Capt McKay is in New York wounded he can supply the Descriptive List. hoping that you have found your brother ere this reaches you, believe me

I am
yours most Respectfully
Wm Reid Lieut Comg Co F 57th Regt
