Henry L. Wilson
Henry L. Wilson was born around 1846 in Steubenville, Ohio, to John and Susanna Wilson. His father was a farmer who owned $7,000 of real estate by 1850. His mother died around 1850, and his father died the following year. After his parents’ death, he was raised by his uncle Nathaniel Wilson and his aunt Nancy Wilson in Steubenville. According to an early biographer, “he engaged in agricultural pursuits but a large part of his time was given to the development of coal.” He married Hillesha J. Adams around 1878, and they had at least three children: Stewart, born around 1879; Bertha, born around 1883; and George, born around 1888. He died in Jefferson County, Ohio, on October 30, 1919.
