Beloved Companion
This Sabbath P.M. I write a gain to you but it is not with the same pleshure that I could write to you if I had a letter from you to answ but I shall content my self by hopeing to hear from you and swete Edmon and all the rest of the friends soon and hoping soon to come home and stay with you this will suit you and I know it will me as to the news of the day I reckond you have hard as much as we have the Rebel raid on Padukey Ky and the riot in Illinois the Rebels was whipted nicely at Paduca Ky and they retreated to Mayfield and it was feard the would a gain attack the place / I have no fears in that direction it will onley put a few more of the Rebels out of the way Thir is reinforcements going to the front and if thir was serious difaculty back they could send reinforcements any whare they was wanted thir is thousands going to the front the Armey is all being reorganized again and thir will soon bee som thing don in the course of a month or two you will hear some stirring news of some kind this is my gues a bout the times whether we will take part in the campaign is hard to tell thir is such talk as we will go back to McMinnville but I dont know this to bee so I would as soon go thir as to Richmond Via or the front I would rather go to Mo than any whare els at this time we will have to go whare we are ordered if to Richmond Via / well as I have nothing mor yes John Jones has bin sick for a five day but is giting better a gain the health of the Co is very good as this leaves me hale and harty I hope it will find you and swete Edmon well as ever yours

As I was writing to Lizzie I thought that I would write you a few lines to let you know that I am well at this time and to find out how you are getting a long I wanat to know if you have got what was due Brother James from Goverment or not and if not what you have don in the case if you have not got it I will tend to it for you or fix it so you can get the money by presenting your claim this is all it nead cost you / So let me know a bout it and I will have Captian Moris tend to it so you can get your money and tell me whether you are going to build or not this sumer I hope if you build that I will get home in time to help you put your hous up if I was in your place I would build for if I live I will soon be at home then I will turn in and help you I close hoping to hear from you soon
