Milton Forder was born on March 8, 1847, in Indiana to William and Maria Forder. His father was a farmer who owned $7,500 of real estate and $600 of personal property by 1860. Forder grew up and attended school in Washington, Indiana. He married Rebecka Colglazier on March 10, 1868, and they had at least four children: Delia, born around 1868; Albert, born around 1873; William, born around 1876; and John, born around 1878.
Forder worked as a farmer in Washington, Indiana, and by 1870, he owned $300 of real estate and $250 of personal property. They moved to Collinwood, Minnesota, in the early 1870s, and then to North, Minnesota, sometime in the late 1800s. By 1900, he was working as a carpenter. He moved to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, in the early 1900s. His wife died in 1917, and by 1920, he was living in his son Albert’s household in Moose River, Minnesota. He died in Minnesota on January 6, 1929.
