My dear brother and sister with pleasure I sit down with my pen in hand to write you a feww lines to let you know that we are all well at present hoping when thoes few lines may reach you they may find you all well and doing well well will I thought that you would never write me a letter so I thought that I would write one being as I had y my hand in I wrote James one to day at william Hubbards times is hard inevry respect our wheat is all eaten up with the fly well will I must tell you we are amaking up A company A state gard at the old place on the Kentin Wisema farm 35 Joind yesterday we meet once aweek to drill I havent much to write so I thought I would write A little to let you know that we was all A live yet and in the land of living I would like to see you all but it is I dont know when I will see you I want you to write me A letter as soon as you get this so I must Come to a close for this time so Nothing more at present only re man your affetionate brother in law untill death                  Solomon Naugle         William Forder

dear Sister and brother with pleasure i set down to anser your very kind letter i was glad to hear from you but it made me feal sad when i red it to hear of of your bad health but we have to putup with what is sent on us i studed about your letter aheepe till i wet to paps and red als letter and it made me feal beter well girls it looks desre desteress to go to paps. grandfather is gon and mother was down for she had so mutch to do. well Julia i always thought you was a sister but i have giv tha up for you never hav rote me a worde sins you have bin gon but if i was ann trinkel i would hav got aletter long ago well Julia i think if you want to go to lises weding you had oght to Come home befor long lis hinds and dan Smith was married last Tuesday and i think they nex weding that will bea on bleuriver will be lis. well girls i must quit for this ti time rite soon one and all excuse my bad riting and speling it is thy best i can do Minerva Naugle            S F     J H
