Minerva Naugle (maiden name: Hubbard) was born on September 2, 1839, in Indiana to George Hubbard and Charlotte Stewart. Her father was a blacksmith who owned $400 of real estate in 1850. She grew up and attended school in Vernon, Indiana, and she married Solomon Naugle in October 1856. They had at least five children: Altha, born around 1858; Erastus, born around 1860; Minnie, born around 1863; Elmer, born around 1868; and Rhena, born around 1870.
Her husband worked as a farmer. By 1860, they owned $150 of personal property, and a decade later, they owned $300 of personal property. They lived in Howard, Indiana, until the 1860s, when they moved to Pierce, Indiana. By 1900, they were living in Washington, Indiana. Her husband died in 1911, and by 1920, she was living in her daughter Rhena’s household in Washington. She died of “organic heart disease” in Salem, Indiana, on January 14, 1924.
