Elmira Catherine Jacobs
Elmira Catherine Jacobs was born on January 22, 1858, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, to George W. Jacobs and Phoebe Wetzel. Her father was a farmer who owned $8,000 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property by 1870. She grew up and attended school in Middlesex, Pennsylvania, and by 1880, she was working as a teacher. She married Oliver F. Albright around 1881, and they had one child, who died sometime before 1900. They lived in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and her husband worked as a shoe manufacturer and house painter. She died of “general myocardial degeneration” in Carlisle on May 31, 1940.
