Anna Mary Jacobs was born on March 22, 1860, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, to George W. Jacobs and Phoebe Wetzel. Her father was a farmer who owned $8,000 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property by 1870. She grew up and attended school in Middlesex, Pennsylvania, and she married Addison M. Sellers around 1885. They had at least five children: George, born around 1889; Edgar, born around 1896; Mary, born around 1898; Mayward, born around 1900; and Maybell, born around 1900. They lived in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and her husband worked as a superintendent of a life insurance company. She died of pancreatic cancer in Bethlehem on September 1, 1927.
