Adolph Weiss was born around 1821 in Germany. He immigrated to America aboard the John Holland in 1848, departing from Antwerp, Belgium, and arriving in Galveston, Texas. In 1850, he was living in Cibilo Creek, Texas, and working as a farmer. He married Lisette Schupp in Fredericksburg, Texas, on October 25, 1852, and they had at least seven children: Carl, born around 1853; Auguste, born around 1855; Mathilde, born around 1859; Mary, born around 1863; Louise, born around 1865; Adolph, born around 1867; and Henry, born around 1870. By 1860, he was working as a farmer in Fredericksburg, and he owned $800 of real estate and $2,550 of personal property. During the Civil War, he worked as a commissary agent for the Confederate government. In 1870, he reported owning $800 of real estate and $710 of personal property. He received his naturalization sometime before 1900, and he died sometime between 1900 and 1910.
