Dear wife and children i write to you again informing you that i am well praying these lines may reach you the same
i was happy to receive a letter from you a few days since it had been so long since i had herd from loved ones at home i am sorry that John and lol has gone west for i know that you are verry lonesome now but god doeth all things well my testament with some of those little rellicks in it is all that i got from my knapsack as full as i could buckle it that left at Chattanooga the non veterns got them as they went home the likeness i most regret and my tobacco next
my little testament misterisly come to me since we went into camp hear it is a blessed little camp companion it chears me up many times (yes yes) thank god for for the bible and for life and health. well i have not much news to write we will be paid in a few days i will get $1,65 dollars this time an order came to our regamental head quarters last night for the Colonel to furlo 5 pr cent of his men it makes one and one fourth from our company our captain will have us all draw for the furlo well there is only 24 of us left so i will have one chance in 24 well i think that we all will be at home before newyears to stay O may it be so what comfort we can take together yes dear Ruth
Sept 29th we drawed tickets yesterday for the furlo and Malaska got it and sold it in less than an hour for $50 dollars,…well i thought that fifty dollars would do my family more good some other way. yet i would like to come home this fall verry much and i know you would be happy to have me at home, but i will soon be there to stay any how if my life is spaird give my respects to all friends
now Phy you must take good care of your potatoes maby i mite be there to help you eat them before spring yes Phy i want you to pleas to have patience a little longer and be good to Mother and sisters and i think it will not be long before i can be at home to help you and Mother
toty put your little arms around Mas neck and give her a sweet kiss for me rite now. dear little children god bless them tis hard to seperated from them so much yes and from my dear Ruth, but i trust it will not be so much longer Prinny and Siby pleas be good girls your father will be at home and to stay before long if his life is spaired that is shurely so if things work as fast for peace as they have for a while past…write ofton and write all about how you are geting along and all the news O if i was only there to talk with you then i could be so happy but i must try to be resined to the will of him that doeth all things well… (may the lord bless and protect you all
