Dear family
i will write a few lines more on this little sheet i think we will go to Memphus but how soon is another question now Ruth if you have formed an attachment to Larue and think it a good town to live in when i come home i will / if you think best buy a house and lot or you can buy one or have one selected i think i will come to your town some time in July if not, as soon as i can yes for i am tierd seen enoughf of camp life and witnest the sceanes of battle field i have no anxiety to be in another as drededful and hot and bloodey battle as the Shiloh battle was i could describe it to you from begining to end if i was there but it was / one of the largest and hardest battles ever fought on American soil O the suffering wounded soldiers. well i will tell you all about war and its differant sceans when i return O may it be my happy lot to be spaired and live to see you all again i have seen as much of the bear dance as i wanto but gods will be done. now dear children be kind to Mother and to each other / i would like to hear from Richmond Va but we do not get papers now our side is whiping them at all points that i can hear from. we have an army of 125 thousand commanded by gen Hallak this great western army are scianced in drill and can whip the whole suthern confedracy combined. give my respects to farther Chapman i will write ofton, write soon
