well it is morning we have have eaton our fried beef crackers and coffee and i have washed up our tin dishes put them in the box and sat down on my blankets to write excuse my bad writeing for i write on my knee on an old magazene
 
To thy fond heart may bliss be given
Sweet joy on earth and smiles in heaven

well i write a few lines more we are going to draw our pay in about an hour we get 26 dollars each this time give my respects to pap one months wages is aways kept back well it is another day Nov 31 Dec 2..61
the snow is about three inches deep this morning our tents are covered with snow we received our money yesterday i also got $1,50 that i had washt for i frequently wars shirts for some of the men at 5cts a pies write soon

you i pray for you every eavening yes and i often awake at midnite hour and find i have been dreaming of home, and loved ones there O that i was with you to talk with you and asist you and strive by the asisting grace of god to be help and comfort to you
 
Lol i would like to see you yes and all the rest but we are far apart we must be as content as posible there is better days coming. if i should have the misfortune to not reach home prepare to meet me in heaven yes whare our troubles will be ore whare joy forever reigns yes live to god it not only gives us happyness hear on earth but prepares us for sweet eternity whare pleasure never dies we are mest off now each tent a mess i am working for our mes we go out and gather prarie grass and spred it down on the ground and spred one blanket on it and cover with the other and our over coats we have become ust to it and sleep verry good well it is nearly 8 oclock in the eavening the bugle will soon sound for roll call so i will close for this time
