Dear wife and children i write again informing you that i am almost well hopeing you injoy the blessing of health and do cincearly hope and pray that you have other comforts of life sufishent to make you comfortable we are on our way to tiptton whare all the Iowa boys are to concentrate together I will see Sam Chapman there then i will write again /
this is a beautiful morning i aut to see the gard formed the sun was just up the beautiful sparkling stream in peacefulness flowed past our perade ground while our band played some of there sweet musick. well as i looked acrost the distant hills and thought of home and dear love ones there tears filled my eyes O if i was in old Ohio yes with you how happy yes how thankful i would be compaired with my present situation but i must not murmer god doeth all things well.
Dear i received a letter from you yesterday i was much / pleased to hear from you and happy to hear that you was well. i wrote to Millard in Oceola concerning the provision that was made for the familys of soldiers i received no ancer yet that was three months ago. i have written as you requested to Ben Chapman you may get some thing but it is doubtful you wanted me to let you know when i would be at home. well, i, i, i, do not know any more about that than you do we hear so many different news and the most of them backhouse news that i cannot tell when i will come but in all probility between / now now and spring. it is almost imposible to get a furlo under present existing surcomstances. Philander we have a little drumer boy in the reg he is only 12 years old he has under gone the hard ships of a soldier gets his eighteen dollars pr month it takes men that is men to indure a camp life there is a greate many sick in our reg but the health of the company is improveing i will send a five dollar bill in this letter for i know that you need it get it changed for other money use it as you see proper i do not like to risk more than 5 at a time write soon
