Description
The Blue Lantern Restaurant at 484 Clarissa Street was a wood frame building with a wraparound porch added to the building’s rear, on the northern side of the property facing Edinburgh Street. The portion closest to the corner of Clarissa and Edinburgh Streets was single-story with a composition roof. A two-story building with a non-combustible roof of tile or metal sat behind the one-story sections. The wraparound porch had a shingle roof.
Detailed History
Today, the Blue Lantern no longer exists. It was likely destroyed during Rochester’s urban revitalization projects in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Note that most of the streets in this area have been renamed, and addresses renumbered. Today, the current location is a residential neighborhood and is likely where 227 Edinburgh Street is located.
