Description

Shown as a rowhouse on the east side of Madison Avenue on Map 175 of the 1952 update of the 1914 Sanborn Insurance Company Map. Now a parking lot.

Detailed History

An article in the August 15, 1931 Afro-American stated that a new 28-room moderately priced hotel would be opened by Melvin Clark at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Dolphin Street. According to the Baltimore City Telephone Directory, the hotel stood at 1123 Madison Avenue. The news report noted that Clark was known as a dance promoter and an owner of a private dining room, but no additional information has been found.
