Detailed History

Fairfield Foundation's "Hidden Civil Rights Landmarks in Rural Eastern Virginia: A Preliminary Study," submitted to Virginia Humanities in March, 2020 states the following: "We believe this business was located just north of the Midway Auto Repair at 374 Urbanna Road near Saluda. Like Midway Auto, it is abandoned. The structure is concrete block and wood-frame clad in asbestos siding. The structure is a duplex with six bays and a concrete block addition on the rear. The main structure has a side-gable roof clad in standing seam metal, and the addition has a shed roof. The windows are boarded up and not visible. The building and Midway Auto Repair are registered in VCRIS as a single resource, 059-5424.

The building was demolished in April of 2023.
