Detailed History

For the primary address at 110 South 7th St: in 1947, Harold R. Asp was operator of the store. The move to 619 Marquette was announced in the newspaper on Aug. 15, 1947. Harold's moved around the corner to the secondary address at 619 Marquette Ave, according to a 1947 newspaper article. A 1957 newspaper article identified Sheldon Pomerantz as the operator of the store, with the address of 625 Marquette. The buildings containing the primry and secondary address were demolished 1957-1966 to build the Northstar Center. Pomerantz wanted to move the business to 1814 East Lake St. There were several newspaper articles about this transfer and some controversy.
