Exact quadrant of 5th and Monroe is unclear, requires more research. Photo depicts NE corner. According to lynchburgmuseum.org, this was probably the same business as “King’s Café” at 903 Fifth Street, proprietor Essie King. However, 903 Fifth Street is at Fifth and Jackson, not Fifth and Monroe. More research is needed.
